Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and their rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his anointed, Psalm 2:1 & 2

There is currently a big issue over legislators that want to remove “so help me God” from the State of Massachusetts’ oath of office. And rightfully so.

One need only to look at the Declaration of Independence, the Paris Peace Treaty of 1782 and the U.S. Constitution, to see that we were a nation who revered God. There are innumerable books, websites, and speakers who would attempt to say that this isn’t true. If it were not true, how, for 200+ years have we looked at the proof and believed the contrary? How, for 200+ years have these documents existed that clearly point to a belief and reverence for God? Because it is the truth.

We have in 200+ short years become a Nation that no longer revers God. We no longer allow our children to pray in school, we no longer allow monuments like the Ten Commandments to stand in honor of our Heavenly Father. We have become a nation that tolerates and accepts every faith known to man, except Christianity. We are a Nation that desires removing every reference of God from our Pledge of Allegiance, National Anthem, Oaths of Office. We want no reference of Him in our Government Buildings and schools.

So what happens to a Nation who takes God out of their Government? We become an unjust nation. Laws are no longer black and white, now they are varying shades of gray. We legalize murdering babies and wonder why our children kill each other and have no respect for life.

What happens to a Nation who takes God out of our Schools? Increased drugs, increased bullying, increase violence and yes even increased shootings, taking place within the school. And then we stand back and say…where was God? How does He let this go on? You can’t tell God to leave and then wonder why He isn’t there when something bad happens. You can’t have it both ways.

The scripture tells us what happens to this kind of Nation and What Happens When God Leaves. “But they soon forgot His works; they did not wait for His counsel, but lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tested God in the desert. And He gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul.” Psalm 106:13-15; “Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble, and the flame consumes the chaff, so their root will be as rottenness and their blossom will ascent like dust; because they have rejected the law of the Lord of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.” Isaiah 5:24.

Some of the nations that rejected God in the scriptures were Edom, Assyria, Sodom and Babylon. How did that rejection work out for them? They no longer exist, that is how well that worked out and this nation is headed down a similar path.

This is why Psalm 33:12 says “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.

However, “The Lord is faithful and just to forgive” (1 John 1:9). So, “let us repent and humble our hearts before Him that He might come and heal our land!” (2 Chronicles 7:14). Because He has promised that “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

I pray that today we would praise God for placing each of us in a Nation that is free! A Nation that was founded on the precepts of God. I pray that we would not take this for granted and would be motivated to pray for the healing of our land. Let us pray that God would raise up godly leaders who would act on His behalf, seeking His will. Let us pray for a revival in this nation the likes of which have never been seen.

God desires that we would be a nation on our knees, praying to Him and seeking His face and it starts with you and I.
