Touch His Garment

“but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31 ESV
Have you ever been so weak, you felt like you couldn’t even lift your head? Maybe the cause was illness, or perhaps depression, maybe it was stress. Whatever it was, you know what I am talking about. It’s that fatigue that comes from tremendous emotional, mental or physical stressor(s) and it is almost completely debilitating.
An incredible example of this is the woman (she isn’t given a name), in Mark 5:25-34. The scripture is not specific about her illness, other than to tell us that she had a bleeding issue. This poor woman had been bleeding for 12 straight years! In verse 26 we are told that she had “suffered much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better but rather grew worse.”
So not only is this poor woman fatigued from a physical condition, loss of blood and iron, but she has suffered under many physicians and gotten worse. We can only imagine the types of “procedures” the doctors In those days performed on her and all that she had been through.
But as if this weren’t enough, she has run out of money. All of these doctors have drained her of all the money she had. Think about that added level of stress.
Now, what does this woman do? The only thing she can. She has faith!
She had heard reports of Jesus miraculous healings and she decides to find him and be healed. Well, at this particular time, because of all the signs and wonders that Jesus was performing, great crowds of people followed Him and there was no way that she could get an audience with Him. So, she says “ “If I touch even his garments, I will be made well.”. She then pushes and struggles and wriggles her way through the crowd (think about what a feat this is, in her condition) and she reaches out and touches His garment (Can you envision her arm reaching between people, fingers stretched as far as they can desperately seeking the feel of His garment?). The scripture tells us “And immediately the flow of blood dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease”.
Then Jesus, even though people are pushing and brushing up against Him, He feels healing power leave Him and He asks “who touched my garment”? Can you imagine how frightened and embarrassed she must have been in that moment? She falls on her knees before Him and explains her story and Jesus replies “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.”
Perhaps you are in a moment of stress and anxiety right now or maybe you are facing a big decision or just simply having a spiritual dry spell, what ever your dilemma du jour, I would tell you to reach out and touch His garment. With faith the size of a mustard seed we can move mountains (Mark 11:23) and whatever your dilemma, it can be moved too. I pray that you feel His healing power and hear his comforting voice today.
Luv ya!
