The Same God

God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? Numbers 23:19

One of the things that I love about the Old Testament is seeing God so clearly. We see Him create the heavens and the earth ( In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.  Genesis 1:1). We see Him walk in the Garden of Eden (Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. Genesis 3:8). We see Him speak to Moses (So the LORD said to Moses Exodus 6:10) and Noah (Then God said to Noah, Genesis 8:15). We see Him protect the Israelites (And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. 22 The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from before the people. Exodus 13:21-22). We see Him speak to and encourage Elijah (There Elijah entered a cave and spent the night. And the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 1 Kings 19:9).

But the best part about seeing God so clearly in the Old Testament, is that our God DOES NOT CHANGE (“For I, the LORD, do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed. Malachi 3:6). He is the same God today that He was back then.

The same God who spoke all of creation into being, the one who walked with Adam and Eve, who spoke to and lead Moses and Noah, who lead and protected the Israelites in a pillar of smoke by day and fire by night, the one who encouraged Elijah, will do and does do the same for us today.

Did you get that? The same God who parted the Red Sea & the Jordan River, freed His people from slavery through plagues, set a plan in place to redeem all who would repent and follow Him and the one who created you, wants the same intimate relationship with you that He had with the Old Testament Saints.

God wants the kind of intimacy with us that He had when He walked with Adam and Eve in the Garden, He wants to communicate with us the way He did with Moses and Noah, He wants to protect us the way He did the Israelites and He wants to encourage us the way He did Elijah.

The question isn’t can He? It isn’t will He? The question is will we trust Him to do it and will we allow Him to.

If we know Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, God is already speaking, intimately, to us and leading us through His Holy Spirit….are we listening? If we know Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, God is already protecting us, through the warning and leading of the Holy Spirit…are we listening and heeding? If we know Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and if we are in God’s Word and heeding the Holy Spirit, He is already encouraging us…are we reading and are we listening?

God longs to have an intimate, personal relationship with us. He desires to be a good Father who leads, protects, communicates, loves, encourages and gives instruction to His children. And even if we are already receiving all of these things from God, as faithful believers, He wants to do MORE. He wants a deeper intimacy and relationship with us and He wants to be a bigger part of our lives as we learn to follow Him more closely.

He wants so much more for us and to do so much more through us (Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21). Will we listen and follow?

I pray that today, like the Old Testament Saints, we would walk with, talk with, follow, trust, and be encouraged by the lover of our souls. I pray that we would hunger for a deeper intimacy and understanding of our loving Father. I pray that we would find ourselves overwhelmed by His love, provision, protection, leading and forgiveness. So overwhelmed that we are drawn closer to Him than ever before. Like a little child whose daddy just got home, lets run into His arms today because they are open wide and waiting. Oh how we love you Abba Father!

If you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, I pray that right now, you would go to our Life Preserver page (https://forgiven-n-loved.com/) and pray the prayer that is outlined there. That same God who walked intimately in the Garden with Adam and Eve is waiting with forgiveness, protection, provision, love and open arms….to welcome you home. Please pray that prayer, and when you do, reach out to me at admin@Forgiven-N-Loved.com and let me know. I’d love to be in prayer for you.

Luv Ya!

When God asked me to create this blog, I didn't even think it was something I could do. But in His strength and power and with His leading (and the help of our beautiful, contributing author, daughter) we did it! We pray that it helps you to draw closer to Him and that you would grow in your relationship and knowledge of our Saviour. Luv Ya!
