The Rewards of Heaven

God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4

I recently watched a video of children telling the narrator what they thought Heaven would look like. These children envisioned everything from a house made of clouds, to one made of marshmallows and a place decorated with glitter. And, I am sure that if we did a pole of adults we would find similar disparity in what we think.

The great thing is we don’t have to imagine. The scriptures tell us what heaven is like.

Luke 13:29 says “People will come from east and west and north and south, and will take their places at the feast in the kingdom of God. WOOHOO!!! A Church Supper in Heaven!!

In 1 Thessalonians 2:19, 2 Timothy 4:7-8, 1 Peter 5:2-4 and James 1:12 we are told of crowns that we can earn in this life, that will be given to us in heaven.

In John 14:2 Jesus tells us “In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?” So there is plenty of room for us.

Psalm 33:13 tells us that it is the LORD’s dwelling place, “From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind.” Jesus is there.

In John 14:3 & 4 Jesus said “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” Jesus is there and is coming back to take us with Him. And, we know how to get there.

Luke 23:43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” – Jesus tells the repentant thief on the cross that he will be with Him in Paradise…Heaven is Paradise!

Revelation 21:3 “And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.” God is in Heaven and will dwell among us. The Father of all of creation will walk and dwell with us and we will be His people.

There are other verses in Revelation 21 that talk about streets of Gold, walls of Jasper, gates of pearl and other glorious imagery.

But, the thing that we should be more excited about than anything else is dwelling with The Father, Son and Holy Spirit for eternity!

The Apostle Paul said “for me, to live is Christ, to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.” He knew that it just doesn’t get any better than to dwell with Jesus, and he desired to do that. But he realized that while he was still here he had work to do for God.

Heaven is a real place or God is a liar. There will be no tears, dying, mourning, crying or pain. It will be beautiful and we may receive crowns when we get there. We will have a seat at the banquet table. But all of that pales in comparison to walking and talking with our Heavenly Father and Savior.

The big question is will you be there?

When Jesus said we know the way to where He is going (heaven), we have to look to John 14:6 to see what he meant. “Jesus said to him, “I am the way , and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

I pray that Jesus is Lord of your life and that your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life (Revelation 21:27). I also pray that you would not just revel in the glory that awaits us, but that you would be motivated to share your Savior with others, that they too might experience the glories of heaven.

If you are not sure whether you will be in heaven when your time is through here on this earth, I pray that you would go to our Life Preserver page and pray the prayer outlined there. Then I pray that you would reach out to me and let me know at admin@Forgiven-N-Loved.com so that I can be praying for you and can help you grow in your relationship and knowledge of the Lord.

Luv ya!
