Make That Call
For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in lovingkindness to all who call upon You. Psalm 86:5
The show “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” was all the rage for a while. It is still on, but not quite as popular. I think part of its popularity, apart from the fact that it was the first game show to offer one million dollars as it’s top prize, was that if you didn’t know the answer to the question you had three “lifelines” that you could choose from to help you stay “alive” in the game. When it first came out, the life lines were, ask the audience, which allowed you to get the audiences opinion on which answer they felt was correct, the next “lifeline” was the 50:50, which took away 50% of the answers and left only the correct answer and one of the incorrect answers, the final “lifeline” was phone a friend, with this “lifeline” you would choose the friend who was most likely to know or be able to help you with the answer. Most of the time, the friend was of very little assistance.
Have you ever done that? Been in, what we would typically refer to as, a desperate situation and reach out to the friend that you deemed most likely to know or be able to help you with the answer, only to find that they were of little to no help at all? I think we have all found ourselves in that predicament at one time or another.
The worst part about being in a position like that, is that we simply made the wrong call.
God says in Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3.
But, we fail to make that call to God, for any number of reasons.
Perhaps we know that the answer we truly want isn’t what God desires, so we ask someone else. Why? The scripture tells us “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God For it is written, “He is THE ONE WHO CATCHES THE WISE IN THEIR CRAFTINESS”;.
Perhaps, our pride causes us to think that we don’t need to consult God…”we’ve got this”. That is simply pride and God brings a proud man to shame. (“A man’s pride will bring him low, But a humble spirit will obtain honor. Proverbs 29:23).
We may even have resorted to psychics for answers, God STRONGLY urges us to avoid them (“If a person turns to mediums and necromancers, whoring after them, I will set my face against that person and will cut him off from among his people. Leviticus 20:6) and as for any answer they may have for us Isaiah 8:19 says that “When men tell you to consult the spirits of the dead and the spiritists who whisper and mutter, shouldn’t a people consult their God instead? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?”.
If we are in a predicament shouldn’t God be the one to whom we turn?
God knows and sees every one of us “The LORD looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men; From His dwelling place He looks out On all the inhabitants of the earth, He who fashions the hearts of them all, He who understands all their works. Psalm 33:13-15”
He knows the number of stars in the sky and each of their names (Lift up your eyes on high And see who has created these stars, The One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, Not one of them is missing. Isaiah 40:26), He even knows the number of hairs on your head (“But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.” Matthew 10:30).
We cannot hide from Him and He is the creator of the heavens and the earth (“Can a man hide himself in hiding places So I do not see him?” declares the LORD “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the LORD. Jeremiah 23:24).
He knew us before we were even born. (“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah 1:5). And, before a word escapes our lips, He knows what we will say (Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O LORD, You know it all. Psalm 139:4).
So, who better to call out to when we are desperate or in a predicament? There is no one better than God, He knows all things (And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:13).
The most important knowledge that God possesses though, is that He knows those who call Him Lord (“I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me,” John 10:14).
I pray that when we are desperate or in a predicament, we would look to the Lord and make that call. I pray that when we are filled with thanksgiving and gratitude, we would look to the Lord and make that call. I pray that when we are about to read His word, spend quiet time with Him or pray with a brother or sister in Christ, that we would look to the Lord and make that call. He is faithful and will hear before we even call “Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear. Isaiah 65:24. Make that call.
If you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and have been calling all the wrong numbers, I pray that you would go to our Life Preserver page (http://forgiven-n-loved.com/Life-Preserver/) and pray the prayer that is outlined there. Romans 10:13 says “For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.””. Make that call, PLEASE. And, once you have prayed that prayer, please reach out to me at admin@Forgiven-N-Loved.com and let me know so that I can be in prayer for you.
Luv Ya!
