LORD, what are you doing?!
You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. Hebrews 10:36
The longer I walk with the Lord, the harder I try not to ask “LORD, what are you doing?! But every once in a while, we can just become completely stymied and can’t help but ask.
One of those times for me was when I was looking for an assistant in my old office. There were only three candidates that I could even consider and I finally chose the only one that, I felt, had the tender heart that our office required. I knew nothing more about this lady than what her resume and interview had revealed to me. But, she did have a kind and gentle heart and that was revealed during her interview.
As we began working together and talking more I discovered some things about her. First, there was her social media page. She followed/friended me and when I went to her page I was quite surprised to find a myriad of pictures of scantily clad men.
Then, there was her revealing to me that she was wiccan. She deemed herself to be a white witch, but she was none the less, wiccan.
I have to tell you that this was when I began to ask “LORD, what are you doing?! I don’t know what your plan is, but you have to help me figure this one out because I am not sure what to do with this one Father.”
Never question God and/or His plan.
Over time, my sweet assistant would hear spiritual conversations that I had with various brothers and sisters in Christ who would come to see me. God would provide opportunities for she and I to have spiritual conversations and she even began to ask questions.
But, one of the sweetest testimonies to my sweet friend came from God’s own creation. You see, one of the things that I had not noticed was that because she was wiccan, she had a love and appreciation of God’s creation. She didn’t call it “God’s” creation, but she did marvel in creation. It was an area that we could both marvel over and that we could share and enjoy and that glorified the Creator Himself. Just the way He said it would “Psalm 19:1 says “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.”.
We need to remember “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9.
So when we desire to ask “LORD, what are you doing?!” we need to remember that within 2 Peter 3:9, lies the answer to our question.
God is always glorifying Himself and drawing those who don’t know him into a relationship with Him.
I weep with joy, as I type this blog, because my sweet assistant is now my sweet sister in Christ. She is on fire for the Lord. She is such an incredible testimony of God’s love. I couldn’t love her more or be more proud of the beautiful child of God that she has become.
Oh, and her social media page. Now has no half naked men and replacing them are scripture verses, quotes and pictures that point others to our incredible Heavenly Father.
Now, instead of asking “LORD, what are you doing?”, I say “LORD, allow me to be a part of what you are doing!”
I pray that today we would trust God’s plan. That we would work harder at glorifying Him and that we would be thankful to be a part of anything that He is trying to do in and through us.
