“Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.” Acts 1:11
It is that time of year again…a time of snowflakes, sleigh bells, Christmas trees and Santa.
Remember the excitement we experienced, as children, leading up to Christmas? Some of us had advent calendars that counted the days down until we got to Christmas Day. For those with no calendar, we measured the length of time till Christmas Day by the festivities. First came the decorations, then as we got a little closer we would pick out our tree, if it was real we had to let it sit for a day to settle before we put lights on it, then came sitting on Santa’s lap at the department store, then the baking of Christmas cookies (you knew you were getting close when the cookies came : ). Finally, with incredible anticipation, came Christmas Eve. The cookies and carrots were plated, milk was poured, notes left out and we all climbed into bed. So much excitement that we thought we would never fall asleep. We listened intently for the sound of sleigh bells and/or hoof steps on the roof. Eventually we would succumb to the fatigue and drift off to sleep, only to wake in the wee hours of the morning to run down stairs and see what kind of incredible gifts Santa had delivered and what wishes had he made came true.
We know now, that Santa is a myth. All that excitement, all that anticipation all the preparation all for a myth.
But we have something far better than Santa Claus. We have a Heavenly Father who adores us (In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him 1 John 4:9) . He desires to bless us bountifully (And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19). He sent us a Savior (For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11) so that we could be forgiven our sins (This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:10) and our Savior gave His life to make that happen (but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8).
As if that weren’t enough, our Savior is coming back, to take us to Heaven (For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17) to reside in a mansion with Him for all of eternity ( In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:2)!
Wouldn’t it be awesome if we were as excited about our Savior coming back as we were about Santa, when we were young?
I pray that today we would begin to celebrate (with more excitement than we have ever shown Santa) the coming of our Savior. First as a babe in Bethlehem and soon, at the sound of the trumpet, as a Savior in the sky taking us to our eternal home in Heaven and to our Heavenly Father. Celebrate the reason for the season, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and share His love with those around you. He’s the greatest gift we can give.
If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha 1 Corinthians 16:22… Maranatha is the Aramaic term Come our Lord.
Maranatha – come Our Lord…Jesus, come.
If you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, I pray that you would go to our Life Preserver page (https://forgiven-n-loved.com/life-preserver/) and pray the prayer that is outlined there. God sent His Son that we would all have the opportunity to accept His free gift of salvation, please accept it. It’s the greatest gift you will ever receive.
Once you’ve prayed that prayer, please reach out to me at admin@Forgiven-N-Loved.com and let me know, so that I can be in prayer for you.
Luv ya!
