God Won’t See

God Won't See

We hide our sin, behaving as if God won't see. All the while suffering from the shame and guilt of it all. He will be merciful and forgive, if we ask with a sincere heart.

Isn’t it funny how we are concerned with what others think, but we aren’t concerned about what God thinks? I know that I have said/done things so that people might think well of me. But I was much less worried about what God thought (even when I was knee-deep in sin). It’s as if I thought, “God won’t see what I have done and/or He won’t know the truth.”

If someone in our sphere of influence — whether family, friend, or foe — thinks we lied, we will go to great lengths to prove that we didn’t. If they think we stole something, gossiped, or committed some other infraction, we will do whatever we can to clear our names.

But when we sin and no one sees… well, that is a different story. We don’t create a story to cover our tracks or try to prove we didn’t do it. More often than not, we don’t even acknowledge that we did it. It’s something that we are all guilty of. We commit some sin, knowing that it is wrong, but we think somehow God won’t see it and/or He won’t know. Or worse, we think it doesn’t matter and acknowledging it won’t change anything.

Adam and Eve committed sin in the garden of Eden and they immediately experienced guilt. So, they covered their nakedness. Then, they hid from God.

“And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden” Genesis 3:8. Somehow they thought they could hide from God!

The first man and woman to ever walk upon the face of the earth thought that they could hide their sin. They thought, “God won’t see what we have done. He won’t know the truth.”

But, if we think that hidden sin doesn’t matter and won’t change anything, we are in for a rude awakening. Adam and Eve showed us that. God came walking in the garden and, for the first time in scripture, we see fear enter into the hearts of men.

“But the LORD God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?” “And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.”. Genesis 3:9 & 10. That “hidden” sin that “God won’t see” had already caused guilt and it even caused fear.

What is worse? It took a toll on their relationship with God. They had experienced intimate, loving time with God. They walked with Him in the garden. And now, because of sin, they were hiding from their creator. They were hiding from the lover of their souls.

On the surface, it almost sounds ridiculous. Who would think they could hide anything from God? But the answer is: every human being who ever lived. We all commit sins. And, most of the time (if we are followers of Jesus Christ), we confess and repent of them.

But there are always exceptions…

Maybe we don’t confess because we think it is a “little” sin. There are NO LITTLE SINS! Every single one was paid with the price of the Saviors blood! “For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws.” James 2:10 (NLT).

Perhaps, we don’t confess it because we think it doesn’t matter and won’t change anything. That unconfessed sin can cause a barrier between us and God. “but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.” Isaiah 59:2.

Maybe we think, “God won’t see. He won’t know the truth.” But God sees everything. “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good” Proverbs 15:3.

And your sin will be made known. “But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against the LORD, and be sure your sin will find you out.” Numbers 32:23.

Finally, we may not confess our sin before God because we have no desire to repent (turn away from) of it. We want to keep doing it and, to be truly repentant, we have to want to stop. “Do you not know this from of old, since man was placed on earth, that the exulting of the wicked is short, and the joy of the godless but for a moment?” Job 20:4-5. That pleasure will only last a moment and I assure you it is NOT worth it.

And, if we are not followers of Jesus Christ, this premise that God won’t see or know and that we can just keep on sinning is even more dangerous. “Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death. James 1:15”

The wages (what we earn) of sin is death. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”.

But God is a God of mercy. And He not only sees our sin, but He sees us. And He loves us and wants that intimate personal relationship with us. Isn’t that worth giving up those sins for? After all, it isn’t like God won’t see them. He does.

Father God, we praise You that You are a God of mercy, grace, love, and forgiveness. We praise You that, through the shed blood of your Son, we can obtain that forgiveness. Father, forgive us for hiding from You. Forgive us for hiding our sin from You. And please forgive us of any unconfessed sin that might be causing separation between us, Father. Lord Jesus, we praise and thank You for Your sacrifice. We thank You that You paid the price we couldn’t pay. Holy Spirit, please continue to convict us of our sin and help us to resist the temptations of the enemy. Help us to remember that Jesus blood was shed for every single sin that we think “God won’t see”. We pray this in Your precious and Holy name, Jesus.

Have you committed so many sins that you think there is no hope for forgiveness? Have you thought that you could hide your sins from God? If so, please go to our Life Preserver page (https://forgiven-n-loved.com/life-preserver/) and pray the prayer that is outlined there. There is still hope and God wants to forgive you. He wants a loving and personal relationship with you. And all that He requires is that you pray a prayer like the one on that page from the bottom of your heart. He is waiting and He does see you… through eyes of love.

Please pray and, once you have, reach out to me at admin@Forgiven-N-Loved.com.
