Divide the Family

I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgement. 1 Corinthians 1:10

When I first began looking for a church, it was extremely difficult to find one that even welcomed us, as I have mentioned in other devotionals. I drug my children to any number of denominational churches, attempting to find Christ. We went to a Methodist, Catholic, Lutheran and Episcopal. Now, the fact that did not feel welcomed in these particular churches is not a judgement against all churches in that specific denomination.

There are people in every denominational church (and “non-denominational church”) with people who think the church belongs to them and who are unwelcoming. That is just how our flesh works.

There is one body or family of Christ, based on Romans 12:5 (so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.), 1 Corinthians 12:20 (But now there are many members, but one body.), Colossians 3:15 (Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.) and many other verses.

I know that I have written devotionals pertaining to unity in the body before, but that unity is so incredibly important that I felt the Lord wanted us to talk about it again.

It is so incredibly important, that our Lord Jesus prayed for the unity of all believers, prior to going to the cross. “that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be on even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you send me and loved them even as you loved me.” John 17:21-24.

No denomination has it right, if they did they wouldn’t be a denomination because denominations Divide the Family.

If we know Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, He doesn’t care what you call yourself. There are no denominations in Heaven!

We, the body of Christ (those who have trusted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior) are to be united. That means that whether you call yourself a Catholic, Baptist, Episcopal, Wesleyan, Non-denominationalist (I made that last one up ; ) that is not really who you are. You are a son or daughter of the King of Kings and a member of the body of Christ! Why would we want to call ourselves anything else?!

I pray that those lies that they enemy has taught us about denominations are blotted out by the Lord today. I pray that we would all begin to look at each other, regardless of denomination, as brothers and sisters in Christ. Let’s bind together and work together to bring God glory and advance the gospel! Let’s show those who don’t know Jesus that He is what binds us together and stop letting our different ideas from robbing Him of glory and let’s not Divide the Family any longer. If you have questions about how to move past our differences, reach out to me at admin@Forgiven-N-Loved.com.

If you would say, “I know that Jesus is the Son of God” and think that that is enough to be redeemed, remember….Satan and his demons “know that Jesus is the Son of God”, it isn’t enough. If have not trusted Jesus Christ to be Lord of your life, please go to our Life Preserver page and pray the prayer outlined there. Accept Him as your Lord and Savior today….please! Once you pray that prayer, please reach out to me at Admin@Forgiven-N-Loved.com and let me know so that I can be in prayer for you. I’d also love to help you grow in your relationship with and knowledge of our Lord and Savior.

Luv ya!
