A Blessed and Divine Appointment

Blessed and Divine Appointment

When we (followers of Christ) allow God to direct our path, He provides blessed and divine appointments. And eternal lives are changed and won.

In the book of Acts, we see an angel of the Lord direct Philip where he is to go. He not only tells him where to go, but he even tells him which route to take. We are going to see that this is an incredibly blessed and divine appointment because this angel has directed Philip right to the path that lead to an Ethiopian eunuch who was struggling to read the book of Isaiah.

“Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Go south to the road–the desert road–that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza. So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means “queen of the Ethiopians”). This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the Book of Isaiah the prophet. The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.” Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked. “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. Acts 8:26-33.

This was no coincidental meeting. This was a blessed and divine appointment because God knew that the eunuch was trying to understand Him (God) and His word. So, He sent Philip to meet Him and explain.

“This is the passage of Scripture the eunuch was reading: “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth. In his humiliation he was deprived of justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth.” The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus. As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?”. Acts 8:34-36.

Because Philip was obedient, because he went where God sent him, and because he took the route he was directed to take, a man’s eternal life was rescued. Philip shared the gospel with the eunuch and then the eunuch began to follow the Lord. He even accepted Philips offer to baptize him in the very next body of water they came to. The joy that Philip must have experienced as he shared the gospel with and baptized this man! It was probably equal to that of the eunuch who came to know the Lord. This was truly a blessed and divine appointment.

God promises that if we will trust Him with all of our heart, He will direct our path. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6.

Not only does He direct our paths for our good, but for the good of others as well. “I, the LORD, have called you to demonstrate my righteousness. I will take you by the hand and guard you, and I will give you to my people, Israel, as a symbol of my covenant with them. And you will be a light to guide the nations.” Isaiah 42:6.

We were created to advance the gospel. And God will direct us in that purpose if we have willing hearts to follow. He will provide us with the opportunity for blessed and divine appointments.

But we have to have willing hearts like Philip.

There will be a eunuch in heaven when we (followers of Christ) get there. And He will be there because Philip had a heart that desired to do what God was calling him to do. Are our hearts as obedient? And are we allowing God to direct our paths? Are we allowing Him to provide us with blessed, divine, appointments? Because the appointments that He has planned could change the eternal destination for those along our path.

People hear the voice of God when we share the gospel. They feel His presence when we minister to them. And when people hear God’s voice and feel His presence, it is a blessed and divine appointment.

When we run our own lives and choose our own paths, we make a mess. Let God lead. The eternal lives of those along the way depend on it. They need a blessed, divine, appointment.

Father God, thank you for the people that you put in our paths to give us a glimpse of you. Thank you for your love for us. Thank you for desiring to spend eternity with us. And thank you for our precious Savior, through whose shed blood, we can be forgiven and spend eternity with you. Help us to hear your voice. Help us to seek your will and your path. And, help us to be your hands and feet, Father. Make us hypersensitive to your blessed, divine, appointments, Father. We pray this in Jesus’s holy name. Amen.

Do you know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior? If you said no, can you look back over the course of your life and see some of those blessed, divine appointments that we have been talking about? Has He put people in your path to shine His light into your life?

This blog is another blessed and divine appointment for you. He wants a relationship with you. He loves you and wants to forgive your sins, free you from the guilt and shame associated with them, and adopt you as His own precious child. But you have to have a willing heart. There is a prayer outlined on our Life Preserver page (https://forgiven-n-loved.com/life-preserver/). Please go to this page. And please pray the prayer that you will find there. Pray this prayer with a sincere heart. That is all God requires. That prayer is your adoption papers and only your signature is missing. Pray that prayer and it’s like an electronic signature. 😉 God is waiting for you.

Once you have prayed that prayer, please let me know. Reach out to me at admin@Forgiven-N-Loved.com. I’d love to be in prayer with and for you.

Luv ya!
