Am I Saved?

I remember when I first came to know Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.  It was such an incredible experience and time of forgiveness, peace and joy.

But, pretty quickly I slipped and sinned again.  Before long, those areas of sin in which I really struggled and had difficulty getting control of began to cause me to question my salvation and ask, “am I saved” and “has God forgiven me”.

When this happens, if we don’t address our concerns of not being saved with Scripture, the enemy’s whispers tell us that we were never saved to begin with, we can’t be good enough to be saved, God gave up on us or we never had what it took and we knew that we were unlovable and deficient. Most of these types of lies, are lies that he (satan) has been telling us our whole lives.

Only through scripture can the truth be revealed to us and that truth is in John 10:27-29 “27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand”. Once we belong to the LORD, no one can take away our salvation.

But, we still might wonder …”Will God forgive me? Did God forgive me? Am I saved?”. When it comes to who God saves, John 3:16 and 17 say “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have ever lasting life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”  Salvation was for the whole world…including you and I.

Now, there is a requirement to obtain salvation and that requirement is that we must repent, give our lives to Christ and trust Him as our Lord and Savior….If we have done that we are rescued from the penalty of our sin (because He paid it on the cross) and we will spend eternity with Him.

One of the questions we might then ask is, “if our salvation is secure, why is the enemy working so hard to confuse, mislead and/or cause me to doubt?”.

That is an easy one….

He wants us to doubt God, so that we are no longer in communication with Him and are not honoring, glorifying or serving Him. If our communication with God ceases, we will drift further and further from Him and before you know it we will have slipped those shackles of sin, that kept us captive before, right back on. Guess who we begin to serve then…the enemy.

By causing us to doubt in God, our salvation and even ourselves, the enemy can quiet us to the point that we are ineffective for God, and (before we know it) we slide right back into a life of sinning and robbing God of glory. When that happens, those around us say, “hmmm, they said they had some great relationship with God and they are just as sinful and sad as I am” Those people are then, less likely to seek a relationship with Jesus Christ.

The enemy also wants to keep us from serving God and sharing the Lord with others.  He has those we love and care for right where he wants them.  As long as they do not know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior, they are destined for hell, right along with Him.  The difference between them and the enemy is that there is still hope for them.  That hope is the Holy Spirit living in you, if Jesus is your personal Lord and Savior.

A lot of us have fallen prey to the enemy and have heeded the whispers of the enemy and become less effective, less glorifying and less honoring to God. But, the beautiful part thing about our walk with Christ is that even if we venture off the path and slip into some of that muck and mire of sin that we once wallowed in, God forgives a repentant heart and will revive our Spirits. (19 Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, 20 that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus. Acts 3:19).

I pray that today (whether we have drifted away from the Lord or feel as though we are sitting right in His lap) we would have repentant hearts. I pray that, with all of our hearts, we would seek forgiveness and reconciliation. I pray that today we would find that our Heavenly Father’s mercies are new every morning (22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; 23 they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness. Lamentation 3:22-23). And, I pray that we would reject the lies and temptations of the enemy, that we would heed the leadings of the Holy Spirit and that we would serve, honor and glorify our Heavenly Father, who (through the blood of our precious Savior-Jesus Christ) calls us sons and daughters.

Perhaps, (not because we aren’t good enough, or because God doesn’t want a relationship with us), because we have hung on to some of those things that we know we need to let go of, or because we haven’t turned our lives over to Jesus, or we have just not truly repented of our sin or believed that He is God’s Son and that He paid the penalty for our sin and was raised from the dead and sits at the right hand of the Father in Heaven, we doubt our salvation. There is a simple remedy for that and I pray that you would seek it. I pray that you would go to our Life Preserver page right now (https://forgiven-n-loved.com/life-preserver/) and pray the prayer that is outlined there. We have a Precious Savior who gave His life for yours so that we could be called sons and daughters of God (“And I will be a father to you, And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,” Says the Lord Almighty. 2 Corinthians 6:18) and live for eternity with He and our Heavenly Father. And, once you have prayed that prayer God will send His Holy Spirit to help you resist the enemy and His temptations (Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” Galatians 4:6).

Please pray this prayer and once you have, reach out to me at admin@Forgiven-N-Loved.com so that I can be in prayer for you.
