Sweet Little Lady

A Sweet Little Lady

When we first arrived at the church that we currently attend, we felt the love of Christ immediately.  Walking towards the church, we met several friendly attendees who smiled politely and held the door for us.

And, upon entering, a sweet little lady greeted us. She asked if we were from the area and pointed us to the coffee. But this wasn’t just a typical encounter. Jesus met us at the door in the form of that sweet little lady.  And she showed us His true, genuine love.

This precious sister is extremely petite in stature.  I think that she is barely 5 feet tall.  But her servant’s heart is as big as that church building.  And that precious heart is how we experienced the love of Jesus.

There were other people who welcomed us to the church as well (including those in the parking lot). Each greeted us in love and inquired about our visit.  We felt like part of the family from the very moment that we walked through the door.

Again, Jesus met us at the door.  These people were the representation of Christ. And they still represent Him well in this church.

God calls us to love.   And He even calls us to love people who don’t know us.  That is what our church family was doing… and continues to do. And we have seen God move through them!

Loving people who don’t know us isn’t always our comfort zone though. Some of us might even think that we can’t do it.  But, as followers of Jesus, we can!  Scripture says so.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13. This verse doesn’t say we can do all things… that we are comfortable with. It says we can do ALL things through the strength that Jesus provides.
We are also able to do it because we had a perfect example!

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8.

Not only did we not know Jesus, but we were sinners and enemies.

“For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life”. Romans 5:10.

And He still loved us!  He loved us enough to lay down His life for us!! What a great example.

Now, let’s go back to that sweet little lady and the cup of coffee. You wouldn’t think that being warm and friendly while offering someone a cup of coffee is that big a deal.  In fact, it may seem pretty insignificant.   But I assure you, nothing is insignificant when we move in the Spirit of Christ.  Every “little” thing that we do for Him, and/or to glorify Him, is a big deal in the Kingdom of God.  Nothing in the Kingdom of God is insignificant!

Because of that sweet little lady, we felt the love of Jesus. And because of the hospitality she showed us while offering us that cup of coffee, we came back. And because we came back, my brother (who didn’t know the Lord) started to come to church with us. Because of the love that that sweet little lady and our congregation showed my brother, he too came back. And the Kingdom of God was changed!

That first warm greeting and cup of coffee that we received from our sweet little lady resulted in my brother coming to know Jesus Christ as His own personal Lord and Savior. His salvation is secure because of that “insignificant” cup of coffee.

Revelation 3:20 says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with Me.”

Jesus will meet us at the door (sometimes in the form of a sweet little lady), come in, and dine with us… or, in our case, point us to the coffee. 🙂

Father God, we praise you for the way that you move through your children and for the love that you show through them. Father, thank you for the love that you revealed to each of us (followers of Jesus) that lead to our own salvation. Lord, help us to love others the way that you do and draw them into a loving and personal relationship with you. We pray that they would see you in us. Meet them at the door, Jesus!

Have you been feeling unloved? Have you resisted the urge to go to church for fear of rejection? I felt that way before I became a follower of Christ too. But God loves you. He loves you so much that Jesus gave His life for yours. You don’t need to wait to meet a sweet little lady to experience the love of Jesus. All that He requires is a prayer of repentance; one prayed from the bottom of your heart. On our Life Preserver page (https://forgiven-n-loved.com/life-preserver/), a prayer like that is outlined. Please go to that page and pray this prayer (or one similar). He stands at the door and knocks. He wants to meet you at the door but you have to open it. Pray that prayer and open the door!

Once you have prayed that prayer, please reach out to me and let me know. I’d love to be in prayer with (and for) you. Perhaps, I can even help you find a church.

Luv Ya!

When God asked me to create this blog, I didn't even think it was something I could do. But in His strength and power and with His leading (and the help of our beautiful, contributing author, daughter) we did it! We pray that it helps you to draw closer to Him and that you would grow in your relationship and knowledge of our Saviour. Luv Ya!
