When God Speaks.

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. Romans 10:17.

My husband is very conscious of volume when we are speaking. He is from the south where they seem to speak more softly and certainly more slowly. In New York however, we speak rapidly and loudly! We have a lot to say and a short time to say it. When we speak in NY, sometimes, it is like feeding a person with a fire hose.

When my husband and I go down south to visit his family, I often find myself getting impatient because I find that it takes so much longer to carry on a conversation with someone when they are speaking slowly. I also want to say, “could you please turn up the volume?” lol.

The thing that I am missing is that when we speak softly, it draws people in. It is a more intimate and personal conversation. It requires that we be intentional about hearing what the other person is saying and both participants are then much more invested in the conversation. When we speak slowly, there is less misunderstanding and we tend to communicate more effectively. When we speak slowly, it is much easier to comprehend the views of the other person, to share our own views and to be more effectual in conveying our ideas and feelings.

This is a picture of the way that we should behave When God Speaks.

We should recognize that what God has to say to us is of such great import that at the first sound of His voice we are on the alert and listening. And, we should be slow and considerate in our response. (My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. Romans 10:17).

When God speaks, we should be ready to act. (Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. James 1:22).

When God speaks, it is not just to fill time and space, it is with purpose and will be accomplished (so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11).

When God speaks, there is life. Jesus told us that man doesn’t live by food alone, but that life is found in every single word that comes from the mouth of God. (Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”).

In fact, if we are not good listeners, we may never come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ at all. (So then, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17).

When God speaks, those who trust Him as their Lord, recognize His voice and there is eternal safety in it (My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. John 10:27-28).

I pray that today we would value the word of God. I pray that we would listen intently for His voice. I pray that we would cherish His voice above all others and that when we spend some quiet time with Him today, that it would be with out distraction and that the noise and chaos of the world would not be able to interfere with our intimate talks with God. I pray that When God Speaks, we would be more invested in our conversations with Him than in any others, we have ever had. His is the voice of life, love, healing, peace and wisdom, value it, cherish it, seek it! He longs to have conversation with you….are you listening?

If you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and if you have never heard the sweet, sweet sound of the voice of God, I pray that you would go to our Life Preserver Page (https://forgiven-n-loved.com/life-preserver/) and pray the prayer that is outlined there. That prayer is your first conversation with God and I promise it will be the most treasured conversation that you will ever have. Once you have prayed that prayer, please reach out to me at admin@Forgiven-N-Loved.com and let me know, so that I can be in prayer for you and hopefully, help you grow in your, knowledge of and, relationship with our Precious Savior – Jesus Christ.

Luv Ya!
