He can’t type.

“For nothing will be impossible with God.” Luke 1:37

I was reading a list of things that kids say and think about God. It was really cute. A little 5 year old girl said “God can grow you and He can dance, but He can’t type”. How adorable.

She certainly understands the power of God and that he is our creator. She understands that, King David danced with joy, for God so it is safe to assume that He too can dance.

But, “He CAN’T TYPE”? What? Where on earth would she have obtained the information that would cause her to come to that conclusion? Adorable but inaccurate. Because Luke 1:37 says that nothing is impossible with God. The only thing that God can’t do is sin and fail. Everything else is inside the realm of possibility.

The question is, do we believe it? We often question (pretend not to doubt) the abilities of God.

Sometimes we doubt that God can forgive us – “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16. I know that I personally felt, for years, that yes, Jesus died for the forgiveness of the sins of the whole world (but maybe not mine, I was probably too bad).

At times we doubt whether God can protect us from our Enemies – “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 3:16

Sometimes our circumstances and needs seem too great for God to intercede and help, but – “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive but tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, o you of little faith? – Matthew 6:25-31

The scripture contains a number of people who were known for doubting God. Zechariah – doubted that his wife would have a child (because of her old age), even though God (through an Angel) said that she would. Similarly, Sarah doubted that She (because of her old age) would have a child, even though she heard God, personally, tell Abraham that it would be so. How about our friend Eve, who listened to the serpent and doubted what God had told her – “The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it,” Genesis 3:6.

I think my favorite doubter is the most famous, doubting Thomas. Here is a man who walked with Jesus, talked with Jesus, was discipled by Jesus and prophesied to by Jesus. Yet, when the other apostles said that Jesus had been raised from the dead, he doubted. He didn’t remember the miracles, he didn’t remember the prophesies, he didn’t remember that Jesus Himself said that He would rise in 3 days.

Instead Thomas said, “Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.” John 20:25. “I will never believe”, talk about doubting and digging your heals in. And, for a few days, Jesus leaves him to doubt. It isn’t until days later, when all the apostles come together that Jesus does appear. “A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”  Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe. Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:26-29

Jesus could have left Thomas in his disbelief, but He didn’t. He did the very thing that Thomas said it would take for Him to believe. And, as soon as Thomas does believe Jesus forgives. Just like He did when we repented, if you know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior.

The question is, like our little girl who thinks that God can’t type, what do you doubt that God can do?

I assure you that there is NOTHING that is impossible with God! Jesus Himself said so “But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

I pray that today we would trust God completely. I pray that we would recognize how big, powerful and able our God really is. I pray that we would have more faith and trust than ever before and that we would give Him ever concern, worry, sin and difficulty we might have and believe that NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD! Even typing ; D

If you have dilemmas, trials, fears and doubts, just like He did with Thomas, Jesus desires that you would believe. I pray that you would go to our Life Preserver page (https://forgiven-n-loved.com/life-preserver/) and pray the prayer that is outlined there. Once you have, I pray that you would reach out to me at admin@Forgiven-N-Loved.com and let me know so that I can be in prayer for you and can hopefully, help you grow in your knowledge of, and relationship with, our Precious Savior, Jesus Christ.
