What is/are God’s Call(s) on My Life

Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble; 2 Peter 1:10

This is a question asked throughout the ages. For a long time, I had a hard time seeing myself as worthy to even have a call on my life. In my heart I knew there was one and I even knew what it was, but my lack of confidence and personal forgiveness convinced me that I was to unworthy to entertain the thought or to move toward my call. Thank you Jesus for healing.

Little did I know that God has a number of callings on our lives.

The first call is the call to redemption. (God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:9). John 3:16 tells us that God desires that none should perish. He desires that the whole world would come to know Him as their personal Lord and Savior. You (and the rest of the world) have been called to redemption through, and a personal relationship with, Jesus Christ.

But once we have submitted to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, repenting of our sins, obtaining forgiveness and making Him Lord of our lives, there is another call.

It is the call to glorify God. Your sole purpose, the reason that you were created, is to glorify God. Not to be a mom or dad, not to be a doctor or a lawyer, not to be a good person. You were created for His glory (“everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” Isaiah 43:7). The closer we walk with the Lord, study His word and mimic Jesus the more that we glorify God.

Another call that God has for us is that of living out a specific purpose that He has for us, individually, and us alone. God created each of us uniquely and differently and He has gifted us with unique lives, trials and abilities.

When God created us, He didn’t close His eyes and reach into the “good voice” bag and give that to some and then reach into the “powerful testimony” bag and give that to others. He created each of us uniquely and with specific purpose. He has a job for each of us to do here on this earth. Maybe it is to be a preacher, teacher, evangelist, youth leader, Sunday school teacher, the list just goes on and on.

When you were created God gifted and equipped you for that unique and wonderful call that He has on your life. But, just like salvation, we have to accept that call and hunger to live it out.

Understand me, your Heavenly Father, the God who called all of creation into being created you with a unique and solitary call (For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10). A specific job that He created you and only you to do. Are you going to answer the call or shy away from it. You will stand before Him someday and answer for why you didn’t if you shy away.

We should be so honored that He desires to use such broken sinful vessels that we should be jumping at the opportunity. But the enemy convinces us that we are too busy, too sinful, too deficient and again, the list goes on. STOP listening to those lies! (The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. Revelation 12:9)

God has equipped you and desires to use you for eternal purposes. What are you going to say to Him?

If you do not know the call that God has on your life, its time to start praying for wisdom and leading. Tell Him that you desire to please Him and live out that call, but you need Him to reveal what that call is and how to go about moving toward that call. He will answer that prayer.

Now, this may not be the time for you to live out that call. If He has called you to be a worship leader, you may actually have to start singing in the choir or worship team, before you become the leader. If He has called you to be a youth group leader, you may actually have to volunteer to start working with the kids. While you wait, prepare. Hone whatever the skills are that your call is going to require. Pray, pray, pray. Pray that God will show you what you need to be doing to be prepared for that call. Study the word. There is no call that God will ever call on you, that you will not need to know the word of God. Prayer and studying God’s word are the ways in which we grow more and more in our intimacy with Him.

If you know Jesus as you personal Lord and Savior and have not heeded His call to service. I pray that today you pray in earnest to know what that is and how to prepare for it. I pray that you would be excited about the calling that He has on your life and that you would put the worldly distractions aside and chase after His call.

If you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior I pray that you would go to our Life Preserver page and pray the prayer that is outlined there. By praying this prayer you will be answering that first call. He is calling you and desires a personal relationship with you. Once you have prayed that prayer, please reach out to me at admin@Forgiven-N-Loved.com and let me know, so that I can be praying for you and helping you grow in your relationship with and knowledge of our Precious Savior.

Luv Ya!
