His Never Changing Word

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

When there are political or social issues, and bible believing Christians unite on a particular side of, it is not uncommon to hear comments that are rooted in hate and/or deceit, from those on the other side.

One of the deceitful comments that is extremely perilous to the Christian faith is “the times have changed since the Bible was written and therefore the meaning changes.”. That is a dangerous and slippery slope and a lie from the enemy!

Gods word will stand for all eternity (“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.” Isaiah 40:80.). It is God breathed (Meaning that God, through the Holy Spirit, spoke the word to men and lead them to write it down) “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” 2 Timothy 3:16. God is, was and will be (He is in the present, was in the past, and is in the future to all of eternity) “Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” Psalm 90:2.

So if God‘s word will stand forever and if it was written by him (through men) and if He is, not only in the past and present, but He is also in the future, does it not stand to reason that when He wrote the Scriptures He would have known what the times would be like in the future? He is, by the way, the one who prophesied the future end times. So why then would he have written his word in such a way that it would only apply to the past?

He wouldn’t. God’s word is holy, inerrant (without error), and never changing.

As an aside, we should also note (for those people who think the truths of God’s Holy Word change with time) that those who distort the Word do it to their own destruction (As he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures 2 Peter 3:16).

All that having been said, we must be careful to never stop reading it. Just because the truths don’t change doesn’t mean that God’s message to you isn’t new. Because, through different seasons, trials, and victories, God reveals new truths that we may have missed in the past.

He also says that we are to “18 Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 19 Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 20 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates,” We are to publicly proclaim His words. How can we do that if we aren’t reading it?

God also shows us, through David’s heart, that we are to hide His word in our hearts. “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119:11. How can we do that without reading it.

We are called to go into all the world and preach the gospel (And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” Mark 16:15). This is a commandment from God. Have we even been obedient enough to have read it and familiarize ourselves with it? How can we proclaim something that we do not know intimately.

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart Hebrews 4:12.

God’s word is alive, it is changing hearts every day. It is breathing life into dead souls.

But, it is NOT CHANGING.

I pray that today we would have a new Hunger for God’s word. That we would immerse ourselves in the scriptures and that God would speak new truths to us. I pray that in our obedience and our study of His word, He would remove even more of the bondage that the enemy still has us under and that we would find new freedoms within the pages. I pray that we would recognize that God’s word is a love letter to each of us and that there is a private message in there for us that He wants us to hear. I pray that we would devour His word and continue to grow in wisdom, understanding, faith and our love for Him. Thank you Father that you loved us enough to leave us your Holy Word, to instruct, guide, correct and to reveal the magnitude of your love for us!

If you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and you have never read his word, I pray that you would go to our Life Preserver page (https://forgiven-n-loved.com/life-preserver/) and pray the prayer that is outline there. Then I pray that you would do two things. The first is that you would email me at admin@Forgiven-N-Loved.com and let me know that you pray that prayer so that I can be praying for you. The next is that I would ask you to open the Bible and begin to read for yourself the beautiful love letter that God has for you within those pages. If you do not have a bible, email me at admin@Forgiven-N-Loved.com and let me know and I will get you a one.

Please, read God’s Word, in it there is life, both full and abundant, as well as eternal.
